Travel Basketball is different than Recreational Basketball sponsored by the Brownsburg Junior Basketball League (BJBL). Both organizations have their purpose and importance in developing the best overall program a school community can provide. It is our goal to work together and develop the most knowledgeable, enthusiastic and talented players.
Travel Basketball Teams are assigned to play in a 10 game League with a tournament called Indy Hoops. Games are played on Sundays starting at 1:00 with the last games starting at 5:30. Games are played at different schools from surrounding areas. (15-45 minute travel time) Most Travel Teams choose to play from 25-35 games from October through March. Expenses for each child are approximately $100 to $200 depending on how many additional tournaments the team participates in. We have two divisions of teams in each grade level, with the 2nd graders playing in the 3rd grade league. This allows us to involve as many boys as possible in our Travel Basketball Program, but not all players will be assigned to a Travel Team. Travel Basketball is played with High School Rules on 10’ goals, except for a few rule changes to enhance the 3rd grade leagues.
The commitment to practice includes three hours over two days a week and the skill level of players is more competitive than the Recreational League play. Players can participate on both Brownsburg Hoops Travel Teams and BJBL Recreational League Teams, but are not required to do both.
